Proposed Texas chemical disclosure rule could 'demystify' fracing A proposed hydraulic fracturing chemical disclosure rule for Texas would help “demystify” the chemicals used and could reassure the public, Andrew Barron, Rice University's chemistry professor, told the Railroad Commission of Texas during an Oct. 5 hearing in Austin, Tex., on the proposed rule Share: Pennsylvania governor proposes Marcellus shale policy Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett proposed legislation and state policy related to drilling and development of Marcellus shale natural gas, including increasing the gas well setback distance from private water wells and public water systems. Share: Chevron launches solar enhanced oil recovery project Chevron Technology Ventures launched a demonstration project at Coalinga field in Kern County, Calif., to test the viability of using solar energy to enhance heavy oil production. The project uses 7,644 mirrors to focus the sun’s energy onto a solar boiler on top of a 327-ft tower. The produced steam then is injected into wells at Coalinga. Share: Total lets engineering contract for Hild, offshore Norway Total E&P Norge AS let a 215 million kroner contract to Aker Solutions for basic engineering to develop Hild field on Norwegian Sea production licenses 40 and 43. Share: Statoil submits PDO for fast-track Skuld development offshore Norway Statoil and its partners submitted to Norwegian authorities a 10 billion kroner plan for development and operation (PDO) of Skuld on Blocks 6608/10 and 6608/11 in the Halten Bank of the Norwegian Sea Share:   MWCC adds tanker to its oil spill containment system Marine Well Containment Co. (MWCC) has taken delivery of a Aframax tanker, the Eagle Texas, to add to its expanded oil spill containment system that will be operational in 2012. Share: Husky sanctions Liwan gas project offshore China Husky Energy Inc. has sanctioned the development of the Liwan 3-1 and Liuhua 34-2 fields, the main two fields in the South China Sea Liwan gas project. Share: ConocoPhillips, CNOOC agree on depressurization plan for Penglai 19-3 field CNOOC Ltd. approved a fluid discharge and depressurization plan from operator ConocoPhillips China Inc. regarding oil spill response efforts in Penglai 19-3 oil field in Bohai Bay, and the plan was submitted to the State Oceanic Administration of China. Share: Falklands Sea Lion oil production start seen in 2016 Rockhopper Exploration PLC said it will invest about $2 billion to start oil production from the North Falkland basin in early 2016. Share: BG orders subsea equipment for Knarr, offshore Norway BG Norge AS let a $135 million contract to FMC Technologies Inc. for the manufacture and supply of subsea production equipment for development of Knarr oil and gas field on Block 34/3 in the North Tapen area, offshore Norway.
